Arsenal to swoop for Juan Mata as Man Utd contract runs down – Friday’s gossip

Arsenal are planning a sensational swoop for Manchester United’s Juan Mata .

The Spanish midfielder has just eight months left to run on his current contract at Old Trafford, and is yet to be offered an improved deal by the club.

That leaves the door open for the Gunners to make a move for the 30-year-old, with boss Unai Emery keen on reuniting with his former Valencia colleague.

The Mail report that Mata – who is on £140k per week – is waiting on an offer from United , but would be free to discuss terms with prospective new clubs in January.

Mata would prefer to extend his deal with the Red Devils, but would move in order to stay in the Premier League and has also attracted interest from La Liga.
