Cardi B’s Massive Met Gala Gown Needed Its Own 10-Person Entourage

It’s official: Cardi B takes home the award for most massive train at the 2019 Met Gala. The rapper shut down the red carpet in a huge quilted and feathered gown by Thom Browne that required its own team of handlers to make its way down the red carpet.

The rapper’s look made for a truly dramatic photo op going up the iconic Met Gala staircase. But in order to get there, she needed an entourage of about 10 people to guide the LEWK along the red carpet.

The moment was reminiscent to Rihanna’s iconic 2015 Met Gala look designed by Guo Pei. The insanely massive and ornate gown was perfect for the exhibit’s “China: Through the Looking Glass” theme that year. Sadly, Bad Gal Riri didn’t make an attendance at this year’s “Camp: Notes on Fashion” themed gala.

Of course, the internet had its own comparisons to Cardi’s Camp-themed Met Gala look including a duvet cover and red blood cells.

This marks Cardi’s second Met Gala appearance. Last year, she attended the annual fashion event for the first time while pregnant with her daughter Kulture. For her debut Met red carpet, she donned a Catholic-inspired bejeweled gown for the gala’s “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” theme.
