John Hartson was left red-faced after his mispronunciation of Chris Gunter’s name.
The Wales legend was on co-commentary duty for his country’s clash with Spain on Thursday night.
But a slip of the tongue resulted in an extremely unfortunate faux pas for the former striker, reports Wales Online.
Describing a piece of play by Wales full-back Chris Gunter, Hartson seemed to refer to the Reading player as Chris C*** before quickly correcting himself to say his name properly.
The mistake was immediately picked up by viewers, some of whom took to Twitter to highlight it.
It drew parallels with the moment experienced presenter John Inverdale slipped up during BBC Radio Five Live’s 2015 coverage of the Cheltenham Festival.
Jockey John Francombe had reflected on the harshness of life working in racing in the past which involved riding in appalling weather and mucking out stables, but insisted none of his colleagues would swap it.
To which Inverdale replied: "This is looking at it through rose-c*****d spectacles…." He later apologised.
