Metallica raised about $1.3 million from an acoustic show to benefit their charity, All Within My Hands.
The first-ever All Within My Hands Foundation Helping Hands Concert And Auction took place on November 3 at the Masonic in San Francisco.
The money will go to food banks in cities the band has played in on its current WorldWired tour as well as to select community colleges across the country.
Last year, Metallica had launched All Within My Hands, a foundation that aims to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported them for so many years, as well as encourage participation from fans and friends and facilitate volunteerism among the Metallica family.
In its first six months of operation, the Foundation donated more than $750,000 to local food banks around the world.
