I'm dating my son's future mother-in-law but I'm not sure we can legally be in a relationship

DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE been seeing a lovely woman but I am not sure whether we could be together legally, as she is going to be my son’s mother-in-law.

I am a 46-year-old widower, she is 43 and divorced.

My son, who is 22, still lives with me. He has a beautiful fiancée of 23 and they are getting married in six months.

Her mum and I were helping them to plan the wedding and I fell for her. We’ve started seeing each other and she feels the same way.

It is getting serious but would it be right for me to be with her once she is my son’s mother-in-law?

DEIDRE SAYS: There is no reason for you to stop seeing each other and no legal reason why you cannot be together.

Talk to your son and ask her to talk to her daughter – things would go much more smoothly if you can get their blessing.

But let the young ones have their moment first.

I hope they will be happy for you both.
