Vodafone has joined the battle for this year’s best Christmas advert – launching a new campaign featuring Martin Freeman doing a very impressive figure-skating routine.
The humorous advert, entitled Gliding Through Christmas, begins with the Love Actually star arriving at a family gathering along with girlfriend Clare, who was his love interest in last year’s campaign.
However, he is left panicked when Aunty Sue turns up unannounced, as he hasn’t got her a Christmas present.
Luckily, Clare saves the day by buying a present off her mobile phone – leading to Freeman’s character jumping for joy in the ice rink.

Freeman has starred in a number of previous Vodafone campaigns, including one in which he plays a bumbling wedding guest.
Last month, a Vodafone TV advert featuring the Hobbit star hopelessly trying to leave a mobile phone contract has been banned for ‘misleading’ customers into thinking they could leave their contracts at any time.
The ASA said the ad gave the impression that Freeman’s character was wanting to leave a contract that had been in place for some time, but the service guarantee only applied to the first 30 days of a new deal.
