Property expert and A Place In The Sun presenter, Laura Hamilton, 38, has spoken candidly about experiencing a wardrobe malfunction after taking to the ice with partner Colin Ratushniak in the first episode of Dancing On Ice. The TV personality also spoke out on how embracing the extreme costume and make-up she was put in, helped her to “enjoy” the experience and avoid any near misses.
Thankfully it didn’t end in too much of a disaster
Speaking in an exclusive live video with the Daily Star, the presenter opened up about overcoming a wardrobe malfunction in week one.
She said: “I had a wardrobe malfunction the first week, where in the first episode of the show, the costume, one of the straps pinged loose.
“Thankfully it didn’t end in too much of a disaster, but it did ping loose.”
Laura also reminisced about her “absolutely enormous” hairstyles she skated with.
She revealed: “I also remember week one my hair, I had this absolutely enormous mohawk, I think my hair was out here”, she said while gesturing next to her head.
“I had this huge mohawk and I just remember thinking, how am I going to negotiate doing these routines with this massive hair? But you just do it.”
However, she didn’t let the size of her barnet intimidate her and instead embraced her on-ice character.
Laura continued: “It was something that I embraced and I think that that’s kind of what you need to do when you take part in the show.
“Embrace the costumes, embrace the hair and make up and sort of become the character that they want you to play each week.
“You have to throw yourself into it, you have to go for it and enjoy every minute.”
In 2011 the property expert competed in the sixth series of ITV’s Dancing On Ice.
Skating with professional Colin, the pair made it into the final but came second to former EastEnders actor Sam Attwater and skating professional Brianne Delcourt.

Laura’s admission comes just days after she opened up about the challenges she faces as a parent once lockdown ends.
The Channel 4 presenter has been homeschooling her and Alex Goward’s two children Rocco, seven, and Thalia, five, and says lockdown has increased the amount of time they are spending looking at a screen.
“I’m quite funny about allowing Rocco and Thalia to actually use laptops and iPads.
“We had a pretty strict rule where we only let them watch [their devices] when they are on a plane travelling.”
She added: “I’ve always said, ‘I don’t want them getting into games consoles’. I don’t want that.
“We’ve tried to limit their usage and now I feel like we’re going completely against all of that.
“We’re like, ‘Here you go now. You’ve got to do your schoolwork now. Sit on your iPad all day.'”
Laura remarked: “It’s actually going to be really hard coming out of this, because as parents we’re going to have to say, ‘You can’t go on your iPad anymore.'”
