Amy Dowden, 28, was supposed to be having her hen party this year, but due to current social distancing restrictions and the coronavirus pandemic, the event has now been cancelled. The pro dancer said she felt “sorry” for her sister and friends who had worked “so hard” and put in such an incredible effort to make the occasion come together.

Doesn’t happen very often

Amy exclusively told “I was absolutely gutted my hen party had to be cancelled.

“I know my sister, who is my maid of honour, and bridesmaids had worked really hard arranging lots of fun surprises for me, I feel so sorry for them.

“It was all a surprise, so I’ve no idea what was planned, but I know it would have been fun and, to be honest, I was just looking forward to seeing all my friends and letting hair down.”

The 28-year-old explained how she was excited to see her loved ones, as she is usually overwhelmed with work commitments.

Amy continued: “With work, travelling and the Art In Motion dance school, that doesn’t happen very often.

“It was going to be a great girly weekend, but again I will just have to be patient and wait.”

The official ruling at the current time is that gatherings can happen indoors as long as it does not exceed six people.

However, many bars and nightclubs remain closed for the time being with no plans to reopen.

In a recent speech Boris Johnson declared that only bowling alleys, skating rinks and casinos can reopen from August 1st.

Meanwhile, many popular destinations for hen parties and stag dos have come to a halt with many countries, including Spain, re-imposing a fourteen-day quarantine period upon returning to the UK.

Amy and her long-term love Benjamin Jones were due to wed this year, and have now postponed their nuptials.

The dancer said of the rescheduling: “The wedding was all planned, but like many couples, we’ve now had to move it to next year.

“Obviously, leading up to the wedding, I need to make sure that if there’s a symptom I’m on top of it.

“We want to be creative with the menu, but it’ll be designed to my needs,” she added.

For a while, Amy did not address suffering from the condition while appearing on Strictly Come Dancing She told the magazine that she did not want to be known as “Amy with Crohn’s” before building her successful career.
