Ben Affleck was spotted coaching 7-year-old son Samuel’s Little League team on Sunday, helping the kids with their batting and fielding skills. Dressed in blue jeans and a black T-shirt, Affleck pitched and had a catch with the young players. Although he’s a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, Affleck was wearing an LA Dodgers hat, though he had a good reason.
“I’m a coach on the Little League team and it’s going great,” Affleck, 46, previously told Ellen DeGeneres. “He’s awesome, it’s a lot of fun. The kids are great kids. I do have to wear a Dodgers hat, because that is the team, but you know … ”
The “Triple Frontier” star, who recently reconnected with girlfriend Lindsay Shookus, said being a coach is a “dad dream.”
“It’s one of those things, you love it so much, it’s like the dad dream,” Affleck added. “Coaching your son or your daughter on their Little League team, it’s very exciting and people have been very cool.”
Despite an insanely hectic schedule, Affleck makes sure never to miss a game. While promoting his Netflix film, he told the streaming service he had to leave Asia early to make it back in time to coach the kids.
“I had a game last week and I was promoting [‘Triple Frontier’], and I was going to Asia and I was like, ‘I have to come back a day early!’” he recalled. “And it was like, ‘What’s the … ?’ And I was like, ‘My son’s Little League game? I’m the coach.’ But thank you, Netflix. They did let me [go].”
