All of the best fashion from Cannes Film Festival over the years

It’s almost that time of the year again when movie stars, A-listers and models descend upon Cannes Film Festival , in the French Riviera.

Taking place between 8 – 19 May, it will celebrate its 71st anniversary this year.

While it showcases films of all genres from around the world, we can’t help but be excited about the red carpet.

There’s been some gorgeous gowns from the biggest designers on some of the most hottest names over the years, from Blake Lively to Julia Roberts. We look back on some of the best looks.

Uma Thurman

Actress Uma Therman wowed in an embellished, feathered gown by Atelier Versace with Hollywood waves, in 2017.

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria showed off her curves in an embellished figure-hugging blush Marchesa gown last year, with an elegant updo.

Bella Hadid

Model Bella Hadid stunned in a pink thigh-high split gown and jaw-dropping jewels. She kept her cool despite a wardrobe malfunction in the Alexandre Vauthier dress.

Blake Lively

On anyone else this extravagant ruffled wouldn’t have worked, but Cannes regular Blake Lively looked like a dream in this pastel blue Vivienne Westwood number in 2016. With her hair styled in a pretty high bun, she pulls off this fairytale look.

Anna Kendrick

The Pitch Perfect actress is anything but mellow in this canary yellow Stella McCartney dress. With her hair swept to the side in Hollywood waves, Anna stood out on the red carpet in 2016.

Julia Roberts

The Pretty Woman actress can do no wrong when it comes to the red carpet and this plunging Armani Prive dress was no exception. And like a girl after our own heart, when it comes to walking up stairs in heels, Julia decided to forgo her shoes and caused a bit of a stir – you go girl.

Cara Delevingne

The model-turned-actress has become renowned for her gothic-glam style and she wowed at the 2013 festival in a lacy Burberry gown with a smokey-eye and a vampy red lip.

Victoria Beckham

We love VB for being different and she looked effortlessly chic in this monochrome bustier and trousers from her own AW16 collection.

Cheryl wowed in this printed Naeem Khan number at the 2016 festival. And she was wise to opt for a slicked back updo, to let the dress do all the talking.

Bella Hadid

While the model-of-the-moment topped headlines with her very revealing red number in 2016, it was her slinky embellished Roberto Cavalli gown we loved the most.

Emma Stone

The La La Land actress swept up all of the awards last year, but one of our favourite looks on Emma is this Oscar de la Renta lace and organza mini dress from the 2015 festival.

Lupita Nyong’o

The Oscar-winning actress looked stunning in an emerald green Gucci gown for the 2015 festival , and even gave her red carpet a few twirls in the floaty number.

Eva Longoria

The Desperate Housewives star showed off her enviable curves in a fitted Gabriela Cadena dress, in 2014.

Julianne Moore

Never one to put a fashionable foot wrong, it’s no surprise Julianne topped every best dressed list in this embellished Givenchy gown in 2016.

Kirsten Dunst

The Hidden Figures actress often rocks retro looks, and we think this floral adorned Gucci dress was made for her.

Kendall Jenner

Admittedly leaving little to the imagination, but the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star showed off her modelling prowess in a sheer Roberto Cavalli dress.

Lily Donaldson

The British model went for an elegant black Saint Laurent dress with 2016’s most coveted accessory – the choker.

Natalie Portman

As one of the faces of the French fashion house, Natalie wowed in a strapless red Dior Haute Couture gown, in 2015.

Marion Cotillard

The French actress stole the limelight in 2012 in a black and navy Dior Couture ball gown. Her retro style bun and hair accessory added to the fairytale feel.

Jourdan Dunn

The British model’s floral Ralph and Russo dress had an almost bridal look to it, with its long train.

Charlize Theron

The Mad Max actress opted for a sunshine yellow Dior dress, which showed off her gorgeous figure, in 2015.
