British Airways’ funny new safety video stars huge British celebs

Everybody knows that if you want a film to be successful, you’re going to need a stellar cast.

So British Airways has gone all-out for star power its hilarious new safety video, enlisting the help of some of Britain’s biggest celebrities.

Sir Michael Caine , Joanna Lumley, Naomie Harris, David Walliams Olivia Colman and Jourdan Dunn have come together for the tongue-in-cheek project, which sees the seven stars ‘auditioning’ for the safety message (while actually highlighting the important procedures in the process).

Comedian Asim Chaudhry – better known as Chabuddy G – plays the self-obsessed director putting the cast through their paces.

Chabuddy osniders himself a little more seasoned than some of the ‘talent’ at his disposal and gives them some pretty basic direction.

Until Broadchurch star Olivia Colman steps in to take him to task.

However, as well as serving as the actual in-flight safety video for the airline, the venture also aims to promote Flying Start , the charity partnership between British Airways and Comic Relief.

The charity launched in 2010 and has since supported over half a million children across the UK, as well as some of the world’s poorest communities.

It’s the second star-studded in-flight video to come from the airline; the first clip, which also starred Asim as the director, boasted famous faces including Sir Ian McKellen, Gordon Ramsey, Warwick Davis, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Jess Glynne.

It proved a success, with Flying Start noting a 20 per cent increase in donations to Comic Relief after its release.

Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ Director of Brand and Customer Experience, said: "It’s great to be launching another star-studded in-flight safety video.

"The first video was a huge success, making customers laugh all around the world, while also helping them to take in those all-important safety messages pre-flight.

"Our first video was seen by customers nearly 25 million times so it’s a great way to promote Flying Start, our global charity partnership with Comic Relief.

"Thanks to our generous customers and colleagues we’ve raised over £19 million for Comic Relief over the past eight years and we hope this video will help us to grow our total even further, as we support great causes at home and around the world."
