Corrie beauty Lucy Fallon has a figure most women would envy – yet she says she hates the way she looks.
Despite an eye-catching performance on the red carpet at last week’s NHS Heroes Awards, the star says her “body confidence” needs a boost.
And she reveals she is ready to embark on a tough new fitness regime.
The size six actress – nominated in the British Soap Awards for her Street performances as troubled Bethany Platt – has employed a top personal trainer to get her into shape.
“I’m not happy with my body at the moment,” says Lucy, 22. “So I’m going to the gym and doing something about it, rather than talking about it.
“I started with a personal trainer last week, and I’m going to do the plan and actually commit to it.
“I get insecure about things. I think body confidence is one of those things that concerns everybody. No one is ever completely happy with how they look.” Lucy even recently gave pole dancing fitness classes a whirl – but struggled to keep up with classes.
“I was doing it to try to get more toned because pole fitness is actually really difficult,” she adds. “But it’s hard to keep up because I’m so busy travelling between work and my home in Blackpool.”
Next month she goes up against a roll call of top actresses at the British Soap Awards, after being nominated for a Best Actress and Best Female Dramatic Performance award. And she insists soap stars, like Oscar-winning Hollyoaks star Rachel Shenton , are just as credible as other types of actor.
“It’s just b****cks that soap actors can’t go on to do great things,” says Lucy. “People have this thing about soaps – that you’re maybe not as good. Obviously that’s not the case. And Rachel winning an Oscar just proves that.
“Rachel and the likes of Suranne Jones and Sarah Lancashire have all done amazingly well.”
Corrie co-star Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) is vying with her for the Best Actress gong, but Lucy insists there is no rivalry between them.
“Everyone is so supportive of each other,” she says. “We’re a team, it’s not a single person’s effort.”
The Street’s grooming plot – which saw Bethany caught up in a child sex ring – has also been shortlisted for the Scene of the Year Award.
She is set to hit the red carpet with boyfriend Tom Leech, who she’s been dating for two years. But despite previous engagement rumours, she says they have no plans to marry yet.
“I’ve got loads of life to live before I start thinking about marriage – and I think he feels the same,” she says.
“And anyway, he’s got to save for a ring.”
