Danniella Westbrook, 47, took to Instagram to reveal she had been hospitalised yesterday. The former EastEnders actress shared a photo outside a hospital in Liverpool but did not provide a health update.

Her hospitalisation comes after she vowed to turn her life around after years of drug abuse and after relapsing with “cocaine and champagne” earlier this year.

The actress’ battle with addiction has been well publicised over the years.

Danniella shared the cryptic post in view of her 71,000 followers.

She captioned the photo: “Back in hospital.”

It comes after the actress shared a candid message about her struggles with addiction last month.

Danniella penned: “OK so here goes… HONESTY POST OK so it’s no secret since leaving rehab I’ve slipped and slides more than I have been straight I guess.(sic)

“But today I’ve joined a new gym restarted my herbal life and going back to the rooms tonight.

“I’m done with the drinking the occasional packet and night out I’m totally over it.

“I know the best years of my whole adult life was the 14 years I spent clean and sober.”(sic)

Danniella went on to admit she’s “sick” of feeling shame when people tell her how well she is doing.

The former EastEnders actress had high hopes to get better.

She continued: “So today I’m saying – Hello I’m Danniella and I’m a recovering drug addict.

“I’m ready to the work every step I’m excited to be off service and do what I’m called to giving back to others seeking a solution to this three-fold illness if alcoholism and addiction. (sic)”

She candidly added: “I haven’t had a rock bottom this time I’m just all over the whole vicious circle that is a crippling disease that stops me and from being the best me I can be and from reaching my full potential.”

The star has since embarked on multiple rehab stints in order to battle her addiction.

Danniella first appeared in EastEnders in 1990 at the age of 16 where she played Peggy Mitchell’s daughter Sam Mitchell.

She remained a part of the cast for three years before she exited the BBC soap.

The actress returned to the programme in 1996 but it was short-lived as she departed soon after.

The part was recast between 2002 and 2005, and played by Kim Medcalf.

But Danniella returned to the role once more in 2009 until 2010.

She was back again in 2016 for the storyline surrounding on-screen mother Peggy’s death, which is to date her final appearance.
