Demi Lovato Debuts New Tattoo After Relapse Reveal

The 25-year-old singer takes to Instagram Stories to show off a new tattoo on her right pinky finger that read ‘Free’ in cursive.

Demi Lovato has added new body ink to her collection after starting life again as a new person. The Disney alum took to Instagram Stories on Monday, June 25 to show off her new tattoo, which could have special meaning to her sobriety journey.

“Free,” so the new ink reads. The four-letter word is written in cursive and located on the back of her pinky finger. Judging from the picture, it looks like the “Cool for the Summer” singer got the new tattoo on Friday, June 22.

In another photo posted on the photo-sharing site, Demi revealed that her whole team also got “Free” tattooed on their pinkies. “The team that tats together stays together,” so she wrote along with a photo of their fingers.

Lauren Einbinder of management team Philymack also shared on her Instagram account a selfie of her showing off the new tattoo with the singer. “That moment when you realize you’re living your dream with the people you love #free,” she captioned a snap of her and Demi placing their pinkies near their lips.

The new tattoo came just days after Demi debuted a live performance of “Sober”, which documents her struggles with addiction and an apparent recent relapse. In a clip posted on her social media accounts, her voice visibly cracked when it was time for her to sing, “And I’m sorry for the fans I lost, who watched me fall again/ I wanna be a role model, but I’m only human.” The crowd could be seen cheering on her, indicating that they still support her despite her recent relapse.

As to when the relapse actually happened, sources recently revealed to Entertainment Tonight that it occurred at some point between the North American leg of her “Tell Me You Love Me” world tour.
