Details of Meghan Markle’s ground breaking wedding reception speech revealed

Details of Meghan Markle’s wedding speech following her marriage to Prince Harry have been revealed.

The 36-year-old former American actress swapped vows with 33-year-old Prince Harry on Saturday at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle before partying the night away with 200 guests at Frogmore House that evening.

Her father, Thomas Markle, had been forced to miss out on the big day as he recovered from a heart attack – leaving Meghan to provide a speech of her own in his absence, which is something of a break from tradition.

And now details of the heartfelt speech made by the graceful new member of the Royal Family have been revealed as she and Prince Harry embark on a life of happiness together.

The speech included “a thanks from Meghan to the Royal Family for welcoming her in,” according to the MailOnline, while new husband Harry heaped praise on the American princess.

Following a week of drama involving Meghan’s family – which included her father pulling out of the wedding and in-fighting among some of her family making headlines – Harry is said to have applauded his wife’s cool headedness.

He is said to have declared Meghan had “navigated everything with such grace,” and added that: “We make such a great team.”

The Prince is also believed to have declared: “I can’t wait to spend the rest go my life with you,” during his own speech.

One onlooker said Harry brought the room to tears as he referred to Meghan as his wife for the first time.

"Some people were even crying. I think it was just a very, really nice atmosphere to be in where everybody felt really loved,” wedding guest Suhani Jalota, founder of India-based Myna Mahila charity, told the Express.

"Essentially it was just about how Harry was as a child and growing up. And now just about the couple and how beautiful they are together. So I think it was just about their personalities and how they gel really well together,” she continued.

"He was talking about his wife and you know everybody was clapping because it was the first time he was using that term for Meghan so it was really nice,” she added.

On Sunday it was reported that Meghan and Harry were preparing to leave Windsor to return home in Kensington – and that honeymoon plans had been put on hold as the couple prepared to begin work immediately with their royal duties.
