DMX Dies at 50, Days After Suffering Heart Attack

DMX has sadly died.

It was announced on Friday (April 9) that the 50-year-old rapper had died days after suffering a heart attack.

The family issued a statement, via Billboard.

“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever,” they said.

“We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle and the man the world knew as DMX. We will share information about his memorial service once details are finalized.”

Last week, DMX was hospitalized after reportedly overdosing and having a heart attack at his home. He was reportedly deprived of oxygen for nearly a half hour, and sources say he had “little brain activity” afterward.

After being accepted into the ICU, he had to be resuscitated and was put on life support, where he was in a “vegetative state” for days before his passing.

Our thoughts are with DMX‘s loved ones at this difficult time.

We have sadly lost all of these stars in 2021.
