Dolly Parton is set to release in November her first rock album, titled Rock Star, which will feature stellar appearances from Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty and other rock icons.

However, one legendary rocker who turned down the project was The Rolling Stones’ frontman, Mick Jagger.

Parton explained in a recent interview with told ET Online that the upcoming release was inspired by her husband, Carl Dean.

She said: “I never got him! But I love Mick Jagger no matter what. I’ll still be runnin’ after him all through the years, because I’ve always had a crush on [him].”

The country legend revealed that the reason Jagger did not want to collaborate for this specific release was due to her song choice.

She revealed: “I wanted him to sing on (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, but he wanted something new and different, which I don’t blame him for.”

Photographer Allan Tannenbaum has claimed to have witnessed the pair’s first meeting back on 14 May 1977 and photographed them together showing different emotions about the moment.

He told the Daily Mirror: “My guess is it was his first meeting with Dolly because it wasn’t like he was saying, ‘How are you doing?’”
