Faryal Makhdom fishes for praise on post-baby figure – but it doesn’t go to plan

She has only recently given birth to her second child.

And, while most new mothers would be concentrating on their newborn, Faryal Makhdom is also nurturing her social media presence.

The 26-year-old – who is married to Amir Khan – recently divided opinion when she shamelessly fished for compliments about her post-pregnancy figure.

Posting a picture of herself to Instagram on Thursday, she captioned it: "A week after giving birth — what do you guys think?".

Clearly hoping for a flood of compliments, she was instead given a mixed bag from her 860,000 followers, who couldn’t decide whether she was being boastful.

Posing up a storm in traditional white embroidered outfit with a matching scarf, she was clearly hoping to attract attention.

Drenched in make-up and sporting perfectly-styled hair, there wasn’t a thing out of place. And, for some, it worked.

One follower said: ‘You look amazing – wish I could be so stylish after becoming a mama’, while another quipped: ‘You’re looking hot’.

However, others were less impressed.

One critic said: ‘Faryal looks amazing and hats off to her, but so many young girls look up to her who won’t lose there [sic] baby fat as fast as she did, I hope they do it sensibly.’

Another said: ‘Be real.. u look fab.. but this is not the reality for most.. Plus women shouldn’t feel pressurised to be superslim immediately after giving birth.. Giving birth is a blessing and should embrace the process and their bodies – and lose weight as and when they are ready.’

A third added: ‘Talk about fishing for compliments!’

Faryal’s return to social media comes just days after she gave birth to a baby girl – her second daughter with boxer Amir .

The proud new dad announced the adorable news via his Instagram on 24 April, revealing her name to his followers at the same time.

He captioned the sweet picture: "With my new born ALAYNA KHAN. Welcome to the world. Weighing 8lbs 3oz."

Little Alayna will be baby sister to the couple’s three-year-old daughter Lamaisah, who frequently shows up on her parents’ social media accounts.

The meaning of ‘Alayna’ is ‘Princess’ in Arabic – a fitting tribute to the little girl.
