Frank Grillo Breaks Down the Paleo Diet and Boxing Workout That Keep Him Jacked at 56

It’s no secret that Frank Grillo—probably best known for his role as SHIELD/HYDRA turncoat Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—is super jacked. In the latest installment of Men’s Health Gym & Fridge, the actor and executive producer takes us inside his world, showing us what he eats and how he works out to keep in super-villain shape at age 56.

The first stop is the fridge, where Grillo shows off the food that’s part of his paleo lifestyle, including eggs, lean turkey and beef, and lots of greens.

Wait a second… What’s that in the freezer? We’re pretty sure cavemen didn’t eat ice cream, Grillo. It turns out, that’s for the actor’s 13- and 17-year-old sons; Grillo says he keeps their favorite things in the fridge “because I want to make them happy.”

And as for his go-to comfort food? “I am a pizza fanatic.”

When he’s not acting—or cooking, as we learned—Grillo is working out. If he’s breaking a sweat in the backyard, he’ll kick things off with three three-minute rounds of shadowboxing; then, he’ll put on the boxing gloves and take to the aqua bag.

Grillo says he’s been a “fitness fanatic” for as long as he can remember. “My parents bought me weights when I was probably 10 years old, back when Lincoln was president,” he jokes.
