Gogglebox favourites Jenny Newby and Lee Riley uploaded the throwback photo on the pair’s joint Instagram account today. The Channel 4 favourites were quickly inundated with comments over the small-screen star’s appearance.
Jenny, 65, looked unrecognisable in the snap which was shared in view of the pair’s 615,000 followers.
The Gogglebox star sported a medium-sized perm with large, statement black earrings and shoulder pad fashion from 40 years ago.
Lee captioned the post: “She’s going to go mad at me […] Jenny with the 80’s perm x”.
The post gained over 35,000 likes in a matter of hours as fans likened her look to the music legend, Barbara Streisand.
Miss Lynnes commented: “Hey, we all did it. If you didn’t have a perm in the 80s were you even there?”
Steph joked: “She looks ace, bet she was a party animal haha.”(sic)
Sharon said: “I thought it was Barbara Streisand.”
Emma Jones joked: “But did she use hairspray?”
“Oh, how I miss my perm. Jenny is going to kill you,” Lou Mellenger added.
Jenny and Lee have been best friends for more than two decades and are regulars on Channel 4’s Gogglebox.
Lee’s partner of 26 years, Steve, occasionally pops up on their feed.
Meanwhile, Jenny usually lives with her husband, Ray, who has never appeared on the show.

They became friends when Jenny was the landlady of a pub called The Crown Inn in Paull, and Lee was a regular.
The pair have been inseparable ever since and often go on holiday together, with Lee previously describing Jenny as his family rather than just a friend.
The Gogglebox duo joined the fourth series of the programme in 2014 and have become firm favourites.
Jenny was first approached by two Gogglebox researchers at Beverley Races Ladies’ Day.
But Lee wasn’t sold on the idea at first, as he told The Hull Daily Mail: “To be honest, I didn’t want to do it.
“I’d say it took her about an hour and a half to talk me into it – about as long as it took me to get me out of bed.”
Jenny said: “I was a big fan of it right from the beginning.
“If my friends were going out, I’d say, ‘I can’t, I’ve got to stay in and watch Gogglebox. I loved it. So to be on it is amazing. I’d never have thought it would happen in a million years.”
Gogglebox airs tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
