Il Divo’s Carlos Marín ‘placed in induced coma’ as band pull out of shows citing illness

Il Divo announced they had postponed their UK tour, citing an illness on December 10. The statement didn’t name who was ill or what had happened, however Spanish publication El Espanol has now reported the alleged issue.

They stated that 53-year-old Carlos is in ill health and in an induced coma.

They added his condition is serious.

Carlos is said to be under “strict observation” and awaits the next steps. has contacted a representative for Il Divo for comment.

On December 10, a statement from the group’s Twitter page read: “Unfortunately, due to illness, the remaining dates for Il Divo’s December 2021 UK tour have been postponed until December 2022.

“Il Divo are deeply sorry to their fans, but look forward to returning to the road in the new year and seeing you all in the run up to next Christmas.”

Many of the band’s 80,000 followers flocked to their post to send well wishes.

Cyber Heroes wrote: “Please keep well. And we will just look forward to seeing you next year instead.

“Take care and get well soon. XX.”

Titica03 commented: “Sad news, but health should be prioritised… Please take good care of yourselves.”

D Lord penned: “Prayers for those ill to recover & others remain well. Hope updates will be posted.”

Ahead of this, they postponed their Nottingham concert on December 9, citing illness again.

“Ticket holders are advised to hang onto their tickets, as an announcement will be made shortly regarding a new rescheduled date.

“Il Divo are deeply sorry to their fans but look forward to being back on the road again and seeing you all there,” the statement added.

Carlos’ band mates Urs Bühler, David Miller and Sébastien Izambard have remained silent on social media.

Dates for the group’s For Once In My Life Tour were postponed earlier this year, due to Covid-19.

A statement read: “Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to reschedule our 2021 August and September US tour dates due to the uncertainties surrounding rising Covid-19 cases.

“All purchased tickets will be honored for the new rescheduled shows. The full list of rescheduled dates are listed below and at We look forward to performing in 2022 and appreciate your support and understanding.

“Unfortunately, four of the dates on our planned 2021 tour (New York, Reading, Las Vegas and Jacksonville) have been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.

“All tickets can be refunded at their point of purchase. Thank you for your understanding.”
