Jack Wilshere looks set to do an amazing U-turn and leave Arsenal – after being told he is not a key figure in Unai Emery’s plans.
Wilshere, 26, was desperate to stay at the Emirates and had agreed a deal but, after talks with Emery this week, it has become clear he could end up being a fringe player rather than a regular starter.
It would be a heartbreaking decision for Wilshere to leave when his contract expires at the end of the month but it looks increasingly likely that he will end up leaving.
Wolves, West Ham and Everton are among the clubs that have offered deals but there are also good offers from abroad with Sampdoria, AC Milan and Juventus all keen.
Arsenal have offered Wilshere £110,000-a-week to stay plus a £65,000 bonus if he plays and the team wins taking him potentially up to £175,000-a-week.
The deal has been improved from the original offer and Arsenal were confident that he would stay – only for Emery to leave him with a major dilemma.
Emery made it clear he wants to keep him – but that he may not be a guaranteed starter.
Arsenal have already tied down Granit Xhaka down to a new deal, they are trying to persuade Aaron Ramsey to sign a fresh contract and are keen on Sampdoria’s £26m-rated Lucas Torreira.
Wilshere is a huge favourite with the Arsenal supporters and is popular at the club but now faces a massive dilemma over his future as he knows he could be down the pecking order.
Wilshere has dropped hints on social media about his future this week and now it looks like he might have to leave his beloved Arsenal to play regularly.
