Jeff Bridges has thanked fans for their support after he was diagnosed with lymphoma, sharing a snap of himself amid his treatment.
The actor, who is famed for his role as The Dude in The Big Lebowski, was pictured hooked up to a drip as he sported a hospital gown – but that didn’t stop him smiling away.
‘I want to thank you all for reaching out during this time, it feels good getting all the well wishes and love!’ he wrote, also linking to a statement on his website.
Referencing his original statement in a sweet hand-written note, he said: ‘New s**t has come to light. I’ve got cancer…
‘But that’s not the only new s**t that’s come to light…This cancer thing is bringing on feelings of preciousness and gratitude and good old-fashion love & lots of it, big time.’
Jeff, 70, added: ‘I’m feeling so much of it comin’ my way, & man I appreciate it. It’s contagious, all this love, like some kind of positive virus. I want to acknowledge and thank you guys for reaching out during this time.
‘It feels good, getting all the well-wishes and love!’
It’s the first post Jeff has written since he revealed his diagnosis earlier this month,
At the time, he told fans: ‘As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light. I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma.
‘Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good, I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.’
Jeff told fans he is ‘profoundly grateful’ for the love and support of those close to him, while urging his followers to go out and vote ahead of the US presidential election.
He tweeted: ‘I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes.
‘And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together. http://Vote.org Love, Jeff.’
