Fans have been watching actor Jennifer Garner celebrate her love for cooking for the past three years. With three children to feed, Garner has happily whipped up everything from homemade bagels to pizza and lemon chicken in her kitchen.
However, one of her most beloved treats is a decadent chocolate sheet cake that she uses for all of her family’s celebrations. Though the recipe looks pretty complex at first, all of the delicious chocolatey flavors seem more than worth it in the end.

The Peppermint actor began her Pretending Cooking Show in 2017 and it’s been going strong with numerous recipes and delights ever since. However, she has no real plans for a full out cooking show.
“I like doing a three or four-minute version in my pajamas at my house…but no, that’s as far as I go,” Garner said during a Facebook live video, “I don’t have any plans for a regular cooking show.”

Garner always gives credit to the chefs that come up with her favorite recipes. On her Pretend Cooking Show, she shared how much she’s in love with The Pioneer Woman’s Chocolate Sheet Cake recipe.
The Alias alum shared that it is her family’s go-to chocolate sheet cake recipe for all of their celebrations.
The Best Chocolate Sheet Cake Ever Ingredients:
3 3/4 sticks butter, salted
1 cup water
8 heaping tablespoons cocoa powder
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
6 tablespoons milk
1 lb powdered sugar
1/2 cup pecans (optional)

To begin, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Next, boil a cup of water while simultaneously melting two sticks of regular butter in a saucepan. Add four large tablespoons of cocoa powder to the melted butter, mixing thoroughly. Afterward, pour the booking water into the butter/cocoa mixture, allowing it to bubble for 30 seconds before turning off the heat and setting it to the side.
Next, in a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add in the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients stirring just enough to cool the chocolate.
In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 beaten eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 teaspoon baking soda. Add this buttermilk mixture into the chocolate/flour mixture and stir well. Pour the batter onto an ungreased baking sheet or jelly roll pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20 minutes.
For the icing, melt 1 3/4 sticks of regular butter. Then add 4 heaping tablespoons of cocoa powder and stir together. Allow to bubble for 30 seconds and then turn off the heat. Stir in 6 tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Finally, add in 1 lb powdered sugar, or to taste. Stir together.
Add the icing on the cooled cake and enjoy.
