Love Island’s Jess Shears has hit back at trolls after being criticised for plugging placenta pills on Instagram.
The reality TV star, who welcomed her first child with husband Dom Lever last month, was forced to respond to cruel comments after sharing a snap of her baby while revealing she’s using placenta pills after giving birth.
Jess, 26, shared a snap of her newborn laying down while sporting an adorable babygro adorned with the words “you rock mama”, however fans were quick to criticise the bottle of placenta pills next to the tot.
One cruel fan wrote: “This and you is what is wrong with modern society… Why is the baby holding the bottle your advertising jeez… Babies soul already sold to Instagram… Jesus Christ. There is too much wrong with this picture.” [sic]
Clearly unimpressed by the negative remarks, Jess responded: “why follow me then?”
Others defended Jess’ post, with one fan writing: “People like you are what is wrong with society! Unfollow her if you don’t like what you see, simple!”
A second wrote: “its actually good for you placenta encapsulation if you don’t like what she posts or what decisions she makes don’t follow her and don’t try come at her no one deserves to be judged on their decisions or what they do now bye.”
It’s not the first time the new mum has faced cruel comments since giving birth, after she was forced to defend her decision to head back to the gym after welcoming her baby.
Taking to her Instagram stories, Jess fiercely defended her decision to go to the gym with Dom.
“Right, I feel the need to clear this up, not that it’s anyone else's business, nor do I particularly care what anyone else thinks…,” Jess began.
“However, if I see fit, and choose to go to the gym, can I just say for half an hour, with my husband, as a bit of me-time to be honest, not lifting heavy weights, not really even sweating, but just to get out of the house and not be a milking machine for one minute and enjoy something that me and Dom have done every day throughout my pregnancy, then that is fine.
"I’m not saying that anyone else should feel pressured to get back in the gym after having a baby, I know I certainly don’t. But I know I enjoyed getting out of the house and having some time with my husband, just the two of us. Getting my blood pumping and just feeling like normal again. So, yeah.”
Jess then lifts her shirt up and displays her stomach, telling fans: “I’m in no rush to lose this wobbly mum-tum. You do you, I’ll do me. As long as we’re all happy and healthy, it’s fine.”
The video came just days after Jess hit back again at trolls, telling them to “stop assuming they know everything”.
Jess Shears and Dom Lever
Jess wrote on Instagram: “Can people stop assuming they know anything about the birth of our child.
“Just because we chose not to share an image yesterday does not mean that’s when they were born.”
She then ended the message with: “Dom, baby and I are happy, healthy and recovering at our own rate.” Jess then tagged her husband, Dom, 28, in the Instagram story.
