Meghan Markle’s best friend Jessica Mulroney may have acted as the unofficial royal wedding planner, but even she should have been adhering to strict protocols inside the happy couple’s private reception as everyone else.
But the 37-year-old stylist and PR expert – dubbed the ‘new Pippa Middleton ‘ thanks to the shapely rear view she presented when she got out of the royal car this afternoon – broke all the rules this afternoon after the thrill of the wedding ceremony.
Jessica, who is mother to the seven-year-old twin page boys who carried Meghan’s veil into St George’s Chapel, managed to slip past the eagle-eyed royal staff inside the reception to post a picture on Instagram.
That was despite the heavy warnings that all guests were supposed to leave behind any cameras or picture-taking devices before they arrived this morning.
But Jessica had one very good reason to post the picture, as she beamed about being a "proud friend. Proud mom" to her followers.
She shared a snap of her boys Brian and John helping Meghan up the sweeping steps of the chapel as they both performed their page boy duties to perfection.
Despite the excitement of the long day, both little lads behaved beautifully and stole the show when their gap-toothed grins were spotted behind the bride as the wedding party entered the chapel for the first time.
Jessica wasn’t the only naughty guest to flout the strict guidelines, as plenty of other famous faces also tweeted and Instagrammed from inside the reception at St George’s Hall.
Meghan’s former Suits co-star Rick Hoffman went so far as to change into his normal clothes as he took to Instagram to reveal why the cameras had spotted his bizarre facial expression.
Speaking to his phone from inside the luncheon, Rick explained how a mystery gust of bad breath kept wafting past him, and implored other guests to brush their teeth.
And Patrick J Adams shared a cheeky snap of him and his real-life wife Troian Bellisario standing within the grounds of Windsor Castle before the wedding kicked off.
"Freeloaders #royalwedding ," he captioned the clandestine picture, which clearly showed other guests taking selfies in the background as they stood in line to file in.
Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian were keen to break the rules, too – they shared several snaps of themselves with baby daughter Alexis Olympia, who wasn’t allowed in the actual ceremony, outside in the sun-drenched grounds of the castle.
The proud parents posed with Serena holding Olympia in her arms, smiling as they celebrated the journey of one of her closest friends into married life.
It remains to be seen whether the celebrity guests will continue to document the royal wedding day into the night – the next stage of the nuptials is a super-private evening reception at Frogmore House, where just 200 of their closest friends and family will be letting their hair down late into the night.
