Kanye West stumped a radio host during a recent phone chat, when he offered up his support to embattled U.S. leader Donald Trump. While most celebrities want the President out of office, the rapper told Hot 97’s Ebro Darden he’s a fan.
The DJ revealed all about his weekend chat with Kanye during his show on Monday morning, April 23, and made it clear he was shocked by the rapper’s support for Trump, who he met with in 2016 to discuss “multicultural issues” just weeks after the “Stronger” hitmaker canceled his Saint Pablo Tour and was hospitalized.
“He said, ‘I do love Donald Trump,’ ” Darden said during a segment on “Ebro in the Morning”, prompting debate with listeners and sidekick Rosenberg, who later took to Twitter and wrote, “Biggest take away from Ebro in the Morning today… Kanye West is still an avid Donald Trump supporter… you can process that however you like but if you’re waiting for him to say ‘my bad’ about his trump statements – don’t hold your breath.”
Darden told listeners that Kanye was also candid about his 2016 health crisis, adding, “Nobody really showed love for me when I was addicted to opioids and in the hospital.”
He also told the radio host he was hospitalized “for his own health and safety”.
Upon his release from hospital in December 2016, Kanye baffled many fans by making a visit to see then President-elect Trump at Trump Tower in New York.
Kanye has not yet responded to Ebro’s claims.
The radio chat came at the end of a week when the rapper announced plans to release two new albums a week apart in June.
