Kardashians love to address scandals on ‘Ellen’

When it’s time to get ahead of a scandal, the Kardashians are turning to an unlikely outlet: “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

The Kardashians have been mired in controversy recently, first with Tristan Thompson allegedly cheating on Khloé Kardashian and then with Kanye West claiming slavery was a “choice.” For some time after Khloé gave birth, the family stayed silent — until they decided it was time to speak out on their own terms.

Instead of turning to social media or their apps, the crew chose family-friendly talk show host DeGeneres, who isn’t exactly known for asking hard-hitting questions. Often, she hardly asks questions at all, instead leading celebrities into areas of conversation and allowing them to direct the flow of the interview.

“You have opinions about that?” DeGeneres recently asked Kim Kardashian regarding Thompson’s alleged cheating. The question allowed Kim to open right up in the manner that she felt was appropriate — without any pushback or questioning.

“I don’t even know how to describe it besides it’s just so f–ked up,” Kim said. “It’s just a really sad situation all over.”

There was no mention of Thompson’s name at all.

Momager and PR goddess Kris Jenner sat in the studio about a week later to address Thompson’s cheating and West’s recent outbursts and Twitter storms.

“[The cheating scandal was] very unexpected,” 62-year-old Kris admitted, choosing, like Kim, not to speak Thompson’s name. “But Khloé is amazing. I’m so proud of that kid — I get choked up because she’s such a good mom, and honestly, I get so emotional.”

Kris kept her comments focused on Khloé, choosing to elaborate more on the new mom’s breastfeeding experience than her fractured relationship. As usual, DeGeneres didn’t push for more.

“She’s just concentrating on that, being a mom, her baby and that’s what her sisters are doing as well,” she added.

As Page Six reported earlier this week, Khloé has taken alleged cheater Thompson back, with a source telling us: “She has stuck with him over the objections of her mom and her sisters, who begged her to bring the baby back to LA and live with the family. They are worried about Khloé — but she insists she’s putting their baby first, and she wants to stay a family.” Khloé has not publicly commented on the scandal.

Meanwhile, when DeGeneres interviewed Kris about son-in-law West, the host simply asked if he was OK. Notably, Kris said West’s name while talking about him.

“You know, Kanye has a lot of love for all of you, all of his fans, and everybody who’s been there to support him forever, and, I know that he will explain himself in his own way,” she said. “I just think this is important to say is, he always does things with really good intentions. I’m going to let him explain himself when the time is ready and I just keep rolling on. Trying to keep up with the Kardashians.”

West himself even appeared on “Ellen” in May 2016, when he addressed his then-controversial tweets and life as an artist. In typical Kanye fashion, he went on a tangent, not even offering DeGeneres an opportunity to ask a question — though she can hardly be faulted for that.

There’s no denying that the Kardashians have a close relationship with DeGeneres, as Kris wrote, “Love you, Ellen!” in an Instagram caption. “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” airs daily on NBC, which also owns E!, where the Kardashians’ reality shows air.

Fans will just have to wait and see if Khloé addresses the scandal on the talk show or if she’ll save it for next season on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”

Kim’s rep declined to comment on this story.

A rep for “Ellen” didn’t return Page Six’s request for comment.
