What Kate could wear for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding

The Duchess of Cambridge is an absolute pro at dressing for weddings, taking particular care not to steal limelight from the bride, while still looking her best.

Aside from her sister Pippa Middleton’s nuptials last May, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on May 19 is possibly the most high profile Kate will attend.

As well as being mindful not to upstage Ms Markle, there are couple of other things Kate’s stylist Natasha Archer will probably bear in mind when picking out her outfit.

Of course the biggest one is not to pick the same designer as Meghan’s wedding dress. While that still remains a mystery to us, Natasha is likely to have already been briefed on all the details ahead of the day to avoid a clash.

Kate has also just given birth to Prince Louis on April 23 and like most mums, she will probably want something, which will flatter her post-baby body.

And then there’s the colour scheme – no guest wants their outfit to blend in with the bridal decor or indeed, the bridesmaids. Given that Meghan and Harry are only have children in their bridal party though, Kate may wear something which complements Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s ensembles, just like she did on Pippa’s big day.

Here are our designer and outfit predictions for the Duchess of Cambridge at the royal wedding.

Alexander McQueen

The designer is big contender, given that Kate wore a bespoke blush pink dress for Pippa’s wedding and for her own back in 2011. She could opt for a midi-length skater style dress, much like the red pleated frock she has worn on numerous occasions over the years or the hot pink number from Trooping the Colour last year.

Dolce & Gabbana

The Italian fashion house has become a firm favourite with the Duchess and she often turns to them for royal tours and evening engagements. A lace midi dress is understated but chic, which would be perfect for the royal wedding.

Emilia Wickstead

Emilia Wickstead is one of Kate’s go-to designers for bespoke pieces. We reckon a block colour pastel number would look amazing on the Duchess on the royal wedding, like this pale pink frock.

Erdem is one of the favourites to design Meghan’s wedding dress , but if it is revealed to be another, Kate could turn to him to make something bespoke for her. She often wears modified pieces from his runway shows, so perhaps a chiffon, floral number like this dress from the SS18 collection might be the one.

Jenny Packham

The last time we saw Kate was when she left the Lindo Wing on April 23, carrying newborn Prince Louis in her arms. She chose to wear a red dress with a lace Peter Pan collar by Jenny Packham and we wouldn’t be surprised if she turned to the designer again for the wedding.

A repeat?

Kate has attended a number of her weddings, before and after she became a member of the royal family. She often wears repeated outfits, so could she delve into her wardrobe for Harry and Meghan’s wedding?

Her signature wedding guest look is usually a shift dress with a blazer or coat, a pair of court shoes and a hat.

She’s worn looks by Jenny Packham, Erdem, DAY Birger et Mikkelsen, Issa and Zara over the years.
