Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton, 37, lifted the Glitterball Trophy alongside Stacey Dooley, 33, in 2018. The Latin champion has sat down with his former celebrity dance partner Susan Calman, who appeared on the BBC show the year before his now-girlfriend.

The Scottish comedian addressed the moment the Grimsby-born performer cheekily joked that he almost “lashed out” at her during rehearsals for their Tango.

Speaking on his self-titled podcast The Kevin Clifton Show, the BBC favourite gushed over the pair’s friendship.

“I’m so glad that you did Strictly and we’ve stayed mates ever since,” Kevin commented.

Susan then dished on the one thing he doesn’t enjoy as she revealed his biggest pet peeve.

The star recalled: “One of the things that I remember you saying to me, was when we were doing the Tango.

“And in the Tango I’m supposed to put my hand under your arm. Do you remember?”

Kevin agreed, admitting he could remember the moment on the dancefloor.

Susan went on: “You said to me, ‘Don’t tickle me or I’ll lash out.’ You were so serious about it.

“You went, ‘I won’t be able to help myself. I’ll just lash out.'”

Kevin fell into a fit of giggles, as he told listeners that being tickled was the one thing he “can’t handle”.

He chuckled: “I hate tickles. It’s like I can’t handle it. I’ll just turn. If I’m being tickled I just hate it.”

Susan remarked: “It’s the fact that I hadn’t even thought about it. You said, ‘I’m just telling you Susan if you do it, I’ll lash out.’

“Ok I won’t do it Kevin. I wasn’t planning on doing it in the first place.”

The dancing duo were partnered together on Strictly back in 2017, and they reached Week 10 in the dance competition.

Kevin announced his departure from the BBC show back in March, leaving to pursue a career in theatre.

In addition, Kevin was set to join his sister Joanne Clifton on their tour Burn the Floor that was scheduled to start this June.

However, amid the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown which ensued, many indoor theatres are closed.

The Latin champion has since revealed whether or not he has plans to return to Strictly.

In an interview with The Guardian, Kevin said: “I can’t leave my sister high and dry, and go back on Strictly.

“But I don’t know. Never say never. I’ve made that decision [to leave Strictly]. And it would feel weird if I suddenly went back again.”
