Wild Fiat scion Lapo Elkann — who was once arrested for faking his own kidnapping while on a bender with an escort in a Manhattan housing project — says he’s “left those dark places.”
Among other past misadventures, Elkann also caused a stir in 2016 by unexpectedly kissing Uma Thurman during a charity event, after which Thurman’s rep said the “Pulp Fiction” star felt “violated.”
Speaking in the May issue of Esquire, Elkann said, “It all happened. I recognize that, I take responsibility for it. I recognize I shouldn’t have done certain things.”
He added, “That’s an addictive nature for you. I’ve been attracted to darkness, to dark places. Now that I’ve left those dark places, there’s light in my life.”
The grandson of Fiat founder Giovanni Agnelli was arrested in 2016 for filing a false report of unlawful imprisonment. He’d run up a hefty tab while partying on drugs and alcohol supplied by an escort, and tried to pay it off by calling a family rep and claiming he’d been kidnapped, law enforcement sources said at the time.
Prosecutors later declined to pursue charges.
