Louis Smith was inundated with congratulations messages from his former Strictly Come Dancing co-stars, when he shared his baby news online last night. The 31-year-old retired gymnast confirmed his girlfriend Charlie Bruce was expecting their first child in a sweet social media video.

Louis, who won the BBC ballroom competition back in 2012, took to Instagram to share the “big surprise” with his 131,000 followers.

The short clip showed the couple popping a balloon in their sun-soaked garden to reveal the gender of their baby.

Pregnant Charlie looked radiant in a floral summer dress which showcased her growing baby bump, while Louis sported a white ensemble.

The slow-motion clip showed pink confetti showering the couple, indicating that they are expecting a baby girl.

“Doing life on my terms,” the former Strictly champ captioned the footage.

He went on to say: “A big surprise and it’s amazing to be having a baby girl with my women @charliebruce1990.”

Talking about expecting a baby during the coronavirus pandemic, he went on to say: “In this crazy time and during a global struggle I wish everyone a happy life and a world of positivity.

“Find the light in darkness’s and the hope at then end of a tunnel. Life is full or ups and downs and right now we are taking an up.”(sic)
