Mel C rages over being snubbed from the Royal Wedding

Mel C has confirmed she was never invited to the imminent Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – and she’s pretty fuming about the situation.

The 44-year-old Spice Girls legend appeared on Australian radio show Fitzy & Wippa on Thursday when attention turned to the upcoming nuptials of Hazza and Meghan.

For months there have been rumours that the Spice Girls will attend the glamorous wedding in Windsor on Saturday – with some speculation suggesting the singers would perform for the royal party.

However, Mel says this is all codswallop and says she was never once invited to join the ceremony despite having a long friendship with the royal family.

"I should clear up the invitation part of it – we were never invited!” the singer declared to the mildly interested radio hosts.

Radio producer Sarah McGilvray then asked: “So you’re not performing? And you’re not going as a guest?”

Mel replied: “No. we were never invited. We were never asked to perform. And I was a little bit annoyed, actually!”

Mel C’s claim that the band were never invited to attend or perform contradicts previous hints by Mel B where she claimed the ladies would be there and performing.

Mel B had been grilled on US talk show The Real back in February about whether or not the girl band would attend.

First she appeared to nod when asked if she knew anyone going, before blurting: “I don’t know if I should have said that!”

Pressed further over being invited, she added: “Well, us five Spice Girls did… why am I so honest?” before abruptly aborting her own line of dialogue and joking that she needed to leave the show.

Mel C, meanwhile, is sticking by her story that the band were not asked to attend and claims she came close to confronting Prince Charles in March this year about the snub as she attended an awards bash he was hosting.

"I was here in London and I was doing the Prince’s Trust Awards… it’s always nice to see Prince Charles, we do have some history,” she explained.

"You know, back in the day with the girls and the bottom pinch and the lipstick on the face, so it is nice to see Charles, he’s a lovely, lovely man. But I felt like going ‘Oy! Where’s my invite?’” she added.

While Mel has certainly firmly ruled herself out of attending Harry and Meghan’s big day, it seems some of her fellow Spice Girls co-stars will be there.

Victoria Beckham has already hinted she will be there after she played coy while on The Late Late Show earlier this year.

While American gossip column PageSix claims that Geri Horner and Emma Bunton have also been invited – leaving Mel’s B and C out in the cold.
