Motsi Mabuse, 40, has revealed she has been “critical” of her figure during her life, as she embarked on a lifestyle overhaul to shed an incredible two stone in weight. The Strictly Come Dancing judge admitted some of her Instagram followers even believed she was “Photoshopping” her snaps following the amazing results of her gruelling workouts.

It’s important for your mental health

Opening up on the benefits of her daily fitness routine, Motsi told Express.co.uk: “It helps me to feel positive. I work out and you get those endorphins.

“If you don’t like working out, then just go for a walk, I think it’s so important for your mental health.

“Obviously, if I’m in a positive vibe I have a different type of energy,” she added.

The dancer also admitted in the past she had not felt comfortable in her own skin.

She shared: “I have been critical to my body my whole life, but it helps me take care of myself in these challenging times.”

The Strictly Come Dancing judge said although she had received praise from most of her fans, occasionally, a mean-spirited comment would come through.

Motsi added: “I have a lot of feedback, a lot of people say I’m inspiring them, and my friends are looking at me like, ‘We can’t believe when we wake up in the morning, you have already worked out.’

“I’m like, ‘Yes’. But a lot of people thought I Photoshopped my pictures!”

Motsi explained her incredible body overhaul was not a result of photo editing software, but was due to her regular workouts during lockdown.

She added: “No it is not Photoshop, it’s just the change and you just inspire people in all ways.“

To stay committed to her newfound healthy lifestyle, Motsi relies on WW (formerly known as WeightWatchers) to ensure she keeps herself in check.

She revealed: “I’ve known WW for a long time, and my mum was doing this when I was younger.

“So I was like, ‘Oh I’m there where my mum was.’ I felt like I was reconnecting to what my mum did. I think we all do that.”

The dance coach says the plans with WW have been easy to follow and still allows for the occasional treat.

She continued: “For me it works, you know WeightWatchers. It works because you can integrate it into your daily life.

“I think it’s very important people don’t feel like they are missing out on something.

“If you plan something really well then you can have so much and still be losing weight.

“You can be so busy and still be losing weight. I think that is important but the losing weight journey is not an easy one.”

Motsi welcomed her daughter with husband Evgenij Voznyuk in 2018.

The family are currently living in Germany where tough lockdown restrictions are still in place.
