Neil Young has dropped his lawsuit against U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign for playing his songs at political rallies without permission.
In August, Young had filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Trump’s campaign for using his songs “Rockin’ in the Free World” and “Devil’s Sidewalk” at campaign rallies.
Young had then claimed that the campaign used his songs “for a divisive, un-American campaign of ignorance and hate.”
The complaint stated that Trump’s campaign willfully ignored his request to not play the songs and proceeded to play them despite not having the required licenses and despite knowing a license is required to play the songs.
Before filing the lawsuit, Young had expressed his frustration and raised objections several times after Trump used his songs during his rallies.
Meanwhile, Young’s lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice, which means it cannot be brought again.
