Peter Billingsley is getting into the gaming industry

“A Christmas Story” actor-turned-producer Peter Billingsley is giving people an inside look at the world of competitive gaming with his new documentary “GameChangers: Dreams of BlizzCon.”

“These are really interesting cultures that exist and people that are really pursuing that dream and I thought, ‘Boy, you don’t know a lot about the world of eSports,’ certainly on the mainstream level,” Billingsley told Page Six on Wednesday. “It seemed like the totally right mechanism to follow two eSports players in pursuit of a championship and really understand what goes into that behind the scenes from the sacrifice, the training, the work and it’s very parallel to any other sports.”

The film, which Billingsley produced, follows two of the world’s best StarCraft players, Mun Seon Won (“MMA”) and Jang Min Chul (“MC”), over the course of a year culminating in their appearance at BlizzCon, a two-day gaming event in Anaheim, Calif.

“I felt like this is a really growing world,” Billingsley told us. “This is an important world to the players and its fans and it seems to be touching a lot of people in a lot of corners of the world.”

He added, “We really wanted to have this film be as interesting for someone who knew nothing about gaming as it would for somebody who’s a huge gaming fan … We just kind of introduce this world and these characters. They’re easy to follow.”

Vince Vaughn — who has worked with Billingsley for years on projects including “Couples Retreat,” “Four Christmases” and “The Break-Up” — is also a producer on the doc.

Billingsley told us of Vaughn, “I met him actually when I was sort of wrapping up my acting career and he was starting his on an after-school special years ago in, like, 1990. It was an after-school special on steroids. I played the kid on steroids and he was my best friend in that, so we became friends.”

“GameChangers: Dreams of BlizzCon” is available to watch now on Prime Video, Google Play, iTunes and Vudu.
