Piers Morgan has lashed out at Carol McGiffin after she reignited her long running feud with him by branding him "a monster."

The 56-year-old TV personality hit back at the Loose Women presenter, calling her an "irrelevant has-been" on Twitter.

Sharing an article about their latest bust-up, the former Good Morning Britain star posted laughing emojis and wrote: "I don't have feuds with irrelevant has-beens."

Carol, 61, poured fuel on the flames earlier this week, writing a scathing piece about Piers in Best magazine.

"I'm loathing Piers Morgan. It pains me even to write his name.

“This hypocritical monster continues to preach, smear, defame, demonise, insult everyone who doesn't agree with him or do as he says, while he continues to do as he pleases.

“I hope he keeps it up because judging by the feedback he's getting in comments and on social media, the more he lectures, the more people fight against it all.”

The pair have feuded before, with Piers blocking Carol on Twitter just last year after she called his stance on the coronavirus pandemic "hysterical bullsh**t."

She questioned him again on Kevin O'Sullivan's TalkRADIO show, saying: "He's got a book out about free speech. The blurb on it is basically saying people can't debate anymore and they just shut people down.

"I'm thinking: Hang on – here's the blocker who's shutting people down because he doesn't want to hear what I've got to say to him. The hypocrisy is absolutely breathtaking."

Over the last few weeks, Piers, 56, has sparked outrage on social media after he questioned Simone Biles' mental health motives following the US gymnast's Tokyo Olympics withdrawal.

But Piers fought back, tweeting the clip of her interview with the caption: "Oh Carol, it’s got nothing to do with curbing your free speech.

"I don’t want to stop you talking your mindless Covid conspiracy theory crap – I just prefer not to endure hearing it."
