Pink reveals she tested positive for coronavirus, donates $1million to response

Pink has revealed she tested positive for coronavirus, as she begged fans to take the illness seriously.

More than one million people around the world have been infected by the virus, with the UK Covid-19 death toll rising to 3,605.

The Just Give Me A Reason singer is currently isolating in her home with husband Carey Hart, and their two children, Willow and Jameson.

And she explained that she had tested positive after herself and Jameson had started showing symptoms.

Sharing a lengthy statement on her Instagram page, the 40-year-old implored people to follow the rules and stay home.

Alongside a throwback snap of herself and her little one, she began: ‘Two weeks ago my three-year old son, Jameson, and I are were showing symptoms of Covid-19.

‘Fortunately, our primary care physician had access to tests and I tested positive. My family was already sheltering at home and we continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor.

‘Just a few days ago we were re-tested and are now thankfully negative. It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible.

‘This illness is serious and real.’

Pink also revealed that she would be donating $1,000,000 (£814k) to help aid coronavirus relief in the US.

‘People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities,’ she continued.

‘In an effort to support the healthcare professionals who are battling on the frontlines every day, I am donating $500,000 (£407k) to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia in honour of my mother, Judy Moore, who worked there for 18 years in the Cardiomyopathy and Heart Transplant Center.

‘Additionally, I am donating $500,000 to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency Covid-19 Crisis Fund.’

Giving a shout-out to hospital workers, the mum-of-two ended the message with: ‘THANK YOU to all of our healthcare professionals and everyone in the world who are working so hard to protect our loved ones.

‘You are our heroes! These next two weeks are crucial: please stay home.

‘Please. Stay. Home.’

Fans quickly flooded Pink’s post with well wishes and praise for her incredibly generous donation.

‘I’m so glad you are well and thank you thank you thank you,’ one replied.

‘Wow… glad you guys have isolated and doing ok now,’ a follower commented.

‘Rest up… think we’re all in for this for the long haul.’

While another wrote: ’You are incredible. Thank you!! So glad y’all are well!’

Pal Selma Blair added: ‘You are wonderful. Thank you. So happy you are healing and have been isolated with family.’

The Trouble star isn’t the only celebrity who has contracted the condition, with Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson also testing positive.

While Idris Elba shared a video, opening up about his battle with the illness.

And Linda Lusardi explained she ‘prayed she would die’ after her symptoms became unbearable.
