On the same day he allegedly had an alcohol-fueled incident at a hotel in Newport Beach, Ryan Lochte caused a car accident in Florida.
According to TMZ, on Thursday, the Olympian traveled from the OC to Gainesville where he rear ended a car around 9:45 p.m.
In the police report, the swimmer was driving his Porsche home when he realized he was about to hit the vehicle in front of him. Despite slamming his breaks, there was still an impact.
The driver of the other car was taken by ambulance to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The athlete was not hurt, and was cited for “careless driving.” There was no mention of alcohol in the police report.
Lochte’s lawyer, Jeff Ostrow, released a statement on Friday saying the 34-year-old is “getting help” after “battling… alcohol addiction for many years.”
