Shia LaBeouf was seen stepping out wearing a mask that had the phrase ‘love me like you hate me’ printed across it, following his ex FKA twigs filing a lawsuit against him.
The Two Weeks singer, 32, has accused LaBeouf, 34, of sexual battery and abuse and claims the actor abused her ‘physically, emotionally and mentally many times in a relationship that lasted just short of a year’.
FKA twigs – real name Tahlia Barnett – has been supported by many other stars, with fellow singer Sia speaking out and accusing LaBeouf of ’emotional hurt’ and ‘conning her into an adulterous relationship’.
LaBeouf is yet to publicly respond to Sia’s allegations, but had released a statement in response to FKA twigs and said: ‘Many of these allegations are not true’.
The Transformers star was seen making a low-key appearance amid the claims in California on Sunday.
LaBeouf headed to a restaurant in Pasadena to pick up some food and was dressed casually, while wearing a black face mask that had the phrase ‘love me like you hate me’ printed across the front.
He sported a baseball cap and tracksuit bottoms and was seen wearing a support on his wrist.
The Disturbia actor’s outing comes after his ex FKA twigs was seen supporting Sia for publicly speaking out against him.
‘I’m sorry @sia.This reinforces why I had to publicly share my experience. we need to support each other <3,’ FKA twigs tweeted.
She had previously addressed her lawsuit against LaBeouf on social media and told fans that she chose to speak out, so that others wouldn’t ‘feel alone’.
‘It may be surprising to you to learn that i was in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship. it was hard for me to process too, during and after i never thought something like this would happen to me. which is why i have decided it’s important for me to talk about it and try to help people understand that when you are under the coercive control of an abuser or in an intimate partner violent relationship leaving doesn’t feel like a safe or achievable option,’ she wrote.
‘i hope that by sharing my experience i can truly help others feel like they are not alone and shed some light on how those who are worried somebody they care about may be in an abusive relationship can help because i understand it can be confusing and hard to know what to do’
FKA twigs alleges in the suit, filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, that LaBeouf threw her against the car at a gas station while screaming in her face and she claims LaBeouf knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease.
It’s claimed LaBeouf was driving recklessly in the car with the star shortly after Valentine’s Day in 2019, removed his seatbelt and threatened to crash the car, unless FKA twigs professed her love for him.
LaBeouf shared a statement with The New York Times, but did not address specific claims listed in the suit.
‘I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behaviour made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalisations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say,’ he said.
In an email to The Times, LaBeouf stated ‘many of these allegations are not true’ and said he owed the women ‘the opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those things I have done.’
LaBeouf and FKA twigs met while filming Honey Boy in 2018 – they began dating shortly after the film wrapped and had split by June the following year.
