Stacey Dooley, 33, took to her Twitter account after discovering that Selfridges would be unveiling a “sustainable initiative” to transform their retail operations. The documentary filmmaker applauded the luxury fashion department store, as she declared “throwaway fashion” to be “naff”.
It’s that mentality
Stacey wrote to her 348,6000 followers: “ Bravo @Selfridges….a v clear, public declaration.
“Throwaway fashion is SO NAFF n so outdated.
“(IM NOT SAYING ABOUT PRICE POINT before u all kick off!)
“ …I’m talkin about the desire to wear a tee once n litch throw it away a week later. It’s that mentality that’s an issue.” (sic)
One said: “I thought it was only the Royals and celebrities that only can wear things once lol.”
Another replied: “ Yes I have Primark tops that have lasted 10 years. If you take care of clothes they last :D.”
A third commented: ”I have a lot of items of clothing in my wardrobe which I wore when I was teaching (I retired 10 years ago!) Some are even older as I still wear tops and a knitted coat which I wore when I was pregnant 40 years ago! I believe in getting my money’s worth out of things!”
Stacey has seen her earnings skyrocket since winning BBC One dance competition Strictly Come Dancing in 2018.
According to accounts for Stacey Dooley Productions LTD, the thirty-three-year old’s earnings have risen to £350,000.
Recently, the star has been presenting EastEnders: Secrets From The Square which has been airing on BBC.
She also worked on a project that showed mothers giving birth during the recent lockdown.
The former Strictly Come Dancing champ, met with mothers in Bradford to discuss their experiences, where coronavirus restrictions strengthened again only a couple of weeks ago.

Some viewers of the programme were not best pleased that Stacey was able to access maternity wards while “fathers of the babies can’t”.
Meanwhile, in her personal life, Stacey has been renovating her new property.
On social media she posted a video of the spacious abode, she said: “ Feel so lucky and excited. I’ve never had my own front door or garden as an adult until now!
“Let me know of second hand/indie spots and tradesmen etc. Will bore you with progress.”
Previously Stacey was living in a London flat with her boyfriend and former Strictly partner Kevin Clifton, 37,
Kevin recently confessed on his The Kevin Clifton Show podcast that he is “itching” to get back to work after spending the last few months in lockdown with Stacey.
The dancer admitted he was “jealous” of Stacey, who is already back at work following the couple’s extended career break due to the coronavirus.
He explained: “This last month, I’ve started to get an itching to get back to work, and my girlfriend is back at work. I’m getting jealous of that. I’m starting to get really fed up now.”
