Karen Hauer, 39, is known for her incredible dancing abilities on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, but the Venezuelan beauty made headlines in 2010 when she split from fellow dancer Kevin Clifton, 38, after three years of marriage. They officially divorced in 2013 and now she has vowed to “never date another dancer again”, and wants her next man to be the complete opposite of her ex-husband.
I think I’m done in that area now, I’m moving on
In a new interview, she revealed she’s looking for a man with blonde hair and tattoos who “knows what he wants”.
It isn’t the first time Karen has been with a dancer, with both she and Kevin having been married to people in their chosen profession before meeting each other – Karen to Matthew Hauer and Kevin to Anna Melnikova and then Clare Craze.
So it’s only natural Karen has decided to change tactics this time around.
“I’m not dating any more dancers, absolutely not, no way,” she exclaimed.
“I married two of them already. I think I’m done in that area now, I’m moving on.”
She pondered her next man, saying: “My ideal man would have blonde hair, blue eyes, tattoos and a good body, pretty much the opposite to my exes. You always want to go the complete opposite.
“They definitely need to work out. They need to know themselves, be nice and know what they want, because I know myself now.”
Throughout lockdown, Karen was dating opera singer David Webb, who would often appear in her keep fit YouTube workout videos to keep her fans fit and entertained.
But sadly it didn’t work out and the couple split in September last year.
Now on the hunt for love once again, the dancer confessed she has ruled out dating apps, admitting she finds them “weird”.
“I couldn’t use one of those,” she said, ‘They just feel weird, I don’t like the swiping.
“A lot of people like it but it’s just not for me. I would like to meet someone naturally.”
The performer also revealed that she’s enjoyed having some “alone time” while being single but ultimately prefers being in a relationship.
“Obviously I’ve been married twice already,” she went on, “But being confident on your own is great to build yourself up.
“I don’t have expectations, I have standards now. It’s OK to have time for yourself and to find out what you want.”
Despite their high-profile split, Karen and Kevin have remained firm friends, and she and his new girlfriend Stacey Dooley are also very close.
The journalist and Kevin won thea BBC talent show in 2018 and began dating shortly after, with Karen saying she “loves her to bits”.
“Kevin and I have always had a great relationship,” she told The Sun.
“We’re friends, I wish him the best.”
She added of his new relationship: “Him and Stacey are a beautiful couple, I hope they have a wonderful life together.”
Back to her own love life, when asked if she is dating anyone, Karen teased: “I’m hanging out!”
