Meghan Markle has a very special new pair of heels to add to her now-famous collection.
The new Duchess of Sussex wore silk duchess satin pumps based on a Givenchy refined pointed couture design. The shoes were the perfect complement to her wedding gown, designed by Clare Waight Keller, who last year was appointed the first female artistic director of Givenchy.
According to a statement from Kensington Palace, Meghan worked closely with the designer on creating a look that “epitomises a timeless minimal elegance referencing the codes of the iconic House of Givenchy and showcasing the expert craftsmanship of its world-renowned Parisian couture atelier founded in 1952.”
While little further detail has been given by Kensington Palace, Waight Keller has only designed one couture collection in her short tenure at the house. The spring/summer 2018 season was designed to invoke conversations between structure and motion. Diaphanous and crystalline, a modern approach to what is precious melts dense opulence with extreme purity.”
Meghan’s shoes may well be a version of the shoes seen on the Givenchy Haute Couture runway in Paris, this past January. Many of the models wore ultra-high pumps with a pointed toe.
It is likely that Meghan will change her shoes, along with her dress, for tonight’s evening reception, likely a slightly lower pair that are more comfortable for dancing.
The new Duchess of Sussex’s fondness for designer footwear has been well-documented. She is often seen wearing shoes by Aquazurra, Manolo Blahnik, Sarah Flint and Stuart Weitzman.
Back in June 2016, she shared a photo of her enviable shoe closet on her now-deleted Instagram, revealing almost 40 pairs of well-organized designer heels.
