Expert reveals the four tasks you need to complete around your home before winter hits

WITH the cold winter months fast approaching, it is important to ensure your home is ready to handle the change in climate.

One woman online is sharing her tips on how to properly "winterize" your home.

Babs, also known as Nona, is a grandmother of four who gained popularity on social media for sharing sage advice and family recipes.

This week, she posted a video detailing four tasks that you should incorporate to prepare your home for the winter.

Speaking to her 1.4 million followers, she said: "Hey honey it's Babs. Did your mom ever tell you that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? Time to winterize your home."

She offered her first tip while standing on a ladder outside her home: clean out your gutters once all of the leaves have fallen.

"Tip number two: check your furnace filter. It might need to be cleaned or replaced. Clean filter? 15 percent savings annually on your heating costs."

Back in the yard, Babs said to ensure that you have shut off the main water source for your outside water. She claimed that you can usually find the source inside your basement.

"If you don't do this, you can have a burst pipe like I did," the TikTok star warned. "Big plumbing bills in the spring, and water in the basement."

Her fourth a final task was a "bonus tip," she said. "Time to check the batteries on your smoke detectors, and your carbon monoxide detectors."

Viewers showed their love for the adorable grandmother, labeling her "iconic" and "the MVP."

"Babs for president," one TikToker commented.

"Me watching this entire video even though I live in Florida," wrote another.

Besides home improvement advice, Babs also shares recipes, cleaning tips, and even hacks on how to live a more peaceful life.

In her video captioned A Slice Of Peace, she shared five things you should do for a peaceful week.

"Before you go to bed, number one– run the dish washer," she said.

"Number two, clear the kitchen counters. Nothing on those counters. Everything away."

Her third and fourth tip involved making the bed as soon as you wake up and then throwing a load of laundry in the washer. "One load a day keeps the laundry monster away," she said.

"Five: when you're making the morning coffee or whatever, unload the dish washer. So no dirty dishes in the sink before everybody leaves for the day because your dishwasher now is available and empty."

Babs is expert we never knew we needed.
