Four simple and stylish ways to rock the trendy shorter hair do like Dua Lipa's

Everywhere we look, women are braving the chop, saying goodbye to long locks and hello to shorter, sleeker hair. Even so, some women remain wary.

They fear a cut above the shoulder might put limits on their potential looks. But that doesn’t have to be the case, according to top celebrity stylist Andrew Jose.

To inspire you to get creative with the shorter cut, Andrew tells JENNY FRANCIS how to rock a trendy lob in four great ways.

The Sleek Chic

STEP ONE: Use a heat protector product to smooth out hair and rid you of any flyaways. Apply into the palm of your hands, rub together and comb through your hair with hands. Try TIGI’s heat protection spray (£18 from salons, or

STEP TWO: Divide dry hair into small sections and run straightener irons from scalp to ends.

STEP THREE: Lock in the style by combing through from root to tip.

The Cute But Curly

STEP ONE: Gather into sections 2cm thick. Wrap these round thin hair tongs and hold for ten seconds – wrap different sections going alternate ways.

STEP TWO: Spray a curl-enhancing mousse into your palm, then scrunch from the bottom up until the product is absorbed. Try Redken Full Effect Mousse (£12.95,

STEP THREE: Use hairspray to hold curls tightly in place. Try Ghd Final Fix Hairspray (£7.50,

The Knot So Tricky

STEP ONE: Scoop your hair from the front of the head to the back using your fingers, then take two sections – one from either side – and tie them together using a band.

STEP TWO: Take another two sections of hair from the other side, underneath the band, then fold them up and into the band.

STEP THREE: Using bobby pins, fasten securely in place the hair you have tucked in.

Not Afraid To Braid

STEP ONE: Backcomb hair at the crown of the head using a fine-toothed comb to create volume and divide hair into a side parting.

STEP TWO: Take a small section of hair from the top left side of the parting. Braid by splitting the hair into three sections at the forehead then cross the sections, left over middle, right over, until you reach the end of the hair.

STEP THREE: Fix plait in place with bobby pins at the back of the head.
