Waist bag

  • SOLOGNAC WAIST BAG, £14.99, – buy now

SOLOGNAC WAIST BAG is an alternative to a rucksack when walking in warm weather.

Its six zipped pockets are ideal for carrying essentials for a summer hike, with a handy hook for your water bottle.

Even as the miles passed, the bag remained comfortable and it does not chaff or cut in, thanks to the adjustable straps.

Good value too. I would recommend it.

Water bottle

  • CHILLY’S WATER BOTTLE, £20, 500ml, – buy now

CHILLY’S WATER BOTTLE promises to keep liquids cold for 24 hours or hot for 12 hours.

The plastic does not contain the chemical known as BPA, which has been linked to health concerns.

Over six hours my drink stayed icy and on a cold day, my coffee remained hot.

There is a “make it yours” option to personalise it.

  • MERRELL’S KAHUNA WEB SANDALS, £90, – buy now

MERRELL’S KAHUNA WEB SANDALS were made for summer and are great for walking on land or in water.

Comfortable and supportive, they were perfect for the entire day.

Hiking in boots in hot weather can cause blisters on blisters, whereas sandals feel freeing – and I still felt stable and secure.

Loved them.

  • Catrice Cosmetics Non-Transfer Liquid Lipstick, £4.99, 5ml, – buy now

Infused with moringa butter – an oil from an Indian tree that promises to keep lips hydrated.

The applicator ensured it went on smoothly and evenly. Dried within a couple of minutes and didn’t transfer at all.

It felt light and the colour is intense. Comes in ten shades – a variety of pinks plus a red and a mauve.

Cruelty-free and vegan formula. A brilliant buy for under a fiver.

  • Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick, £16.50, 5.3ml, – buy now

Waterproof liquid lipstick claiming to stay on until you take it off.

The range features 30 different shades and two finishes, matte and metalised.

The colours are super-vibrant and it is definitely long-lasting. The applicator was fantastic too.

The tip is used to line lips with the colour before the long, flat edge applies even coats of colour all over. An impressive product.

  • Guerlain Intense Liquid Matte, £22.50, 7ml, – buy now

Combines the best of a gloss and a lipstick – creamy texture with a highly pigmented colour.

It has an intensely coloured matte finish but didn’t dry out my lips at all. The formula felt luxe and smelt gorgeous.

The priciest option but it lives up to the hype. Seven shades available. My favourite.
