I'm a dog trainer & people are surprised by my favourite breed – but they’re the perfect guard dogs & gentle around kids | The Sun

AFTER deciding on welcoming a dog into your home, the second biggest choice to make is what breed to go for.

And what one person might look for in a breed is likely to be different to another.

From low maintenance to being child-friendly, there are a whole host of factors to consider.

Southend Dog Training took to TikTok and shared a video revealing his personal favourite and least favourite dog breeds based on his experiences with them.

In the clip, he begins by unveiling that his number one choice would be the Rottweiler.

Explaining why, he notes: "They're big enough you can have a tough and tumble with, gentle enough to be around the children.

I’m a vet and there are five dog breeds I’d never own

I’m a vet med – seven breeds that always end up costing owners the most

"They're imposing enough that people are going to to think twice before messing with your Mrs – I'm quite comfortable being able to go out and leave my wife and kids at home knowing they're safe."

Sharing some additional perks of the Rottweiler, he continues: "They don't have so much energy that they're overbearing and they're loyal."
