THE sun is finally shining and barbecues and get-togethers are back on the menu which can mean only one thing – it’s time to get the garden looking its best.

It can be an expensive job, but if you want to jazz up outside without breaking the bank, there are ways to save money.

Here, savvy shopper George Waterhouse from The YOKO Club – a go-to site for parents looking to save time, stress and money – shares the best places to shop for certain garden items to make sure you're getting a bargain…

Kids’ garden furniture

Kids love their own space, and an outdoor set of chairs or picnic bench is a great option for outdoor eating and playing with siblings or friends.

George and Team YOKO recommend this colourful rainbow picnic table complete with parasol, priced just £35 (normal price £50) from B&M.

Outdoor toys

One of George's best investments she can personally recommend is a mud kitchen.

She says: "Our kids love to splash, play, and make mud pies whatever the weather!"

This adorable mud kitchen from B&M is currently just £35, reduced from £45, or there's also the more intricate Aldi Little Town Brown Mud Kitchen, priced £59.99.

Garden glasses

George says: "When you’ve got friends and family over and the kids running around, the last thing you want is glass lying around.

"Which is why we’ve searched out the brightest and best plastic options for your BBQs and get-togethers."

These B&M picnic wine glasses are just £1.50 each, and available in a range of colours.

Alternatively, 'splash out' on these Wilko Rustic Retreat Ribbed Plastic Wine Glasses, £9 set of four.

Rattan furniture

A rattan outdoor corner sofa is a classic garden go-to, that instantly makes your outdoor area look inviting and luxurious – but they can cost thousands.

However, if you look around you can get the same look for much less.

This Aldi three-seater set costs just £299.98, and includes free delivery and a three year guarantee/ warranty.

Alternatively, there's this set from Habitat Argos, which costs £320, and comes in a choice of two different colours and built in storage.

Bistro set bargains

Perfect for smaller gardens, these low maintenance sets are available in a wide range of shade that can add a refreshing pop of colour to your garden.

On average, you’ll be spending around £120-£160 for a set of two chairs and a table, but you can get similar items for less than half price.

This B&M Sorrento bistro three-piece set is just £60 in store.

For a discounted bargain, this Argos folding two seater metal bistro set in sage is £67, reduced from £75,or this elegant Ikea set is just £49.

Seat cushion savings

If you'd like to inject a little more comfort into your bistro set,the addition of a plush cushioned seat pad can make all the difference.

However as George advises, make sure you opt for weatherproof and washable options for longevity.

These John Lewis ANYDAY seat pads, priced £6 each come in nine different colours, and the ANYDAY range is brilliant value and brilliant quality too.

Outdoor decor

This trend is set to continue and is a great option for families who have kids that love to play outside and want something a little comfier to sit on.

It’s also a relatively cheap way to brighten up a patio area in an instant.

Try the George Asda Navy Element Chevron Indoor & Outdoor Rug, just £20.

More money saving tips

Here are George’s additional YOKO Club tips for saving cash when kitting out the garden:

Join free store clubs: Like the B&Q club membership or Ikea family club to access great savings on a regular and exclusive basis.

Second hand steals: Check out what’s listed with you locally on Facebook Market Place and Preloved or amazing free market place apps such as Young Planet and The Octopus Club (especially for kids’ outdoor toys and items).

Amazon Warehouse: This is a section of Amazon not widely know about. It’s where all returned, or slightly damaged Amazon items are sold at heavily discounted prices. You can certainly find a bargain on anything you can think of, including garden furniture.

Upcycle and make your own: Team YOKO loves the pallet garden furniture tutorial by Ideal Home.

You can also refresh an old garden set with weatherproof spray paint on metal, or an outdoor fence paint on wood.

A statement piece

An outdoor hanging egg chair is a super popular and playful edition to any garden, and guaranteed to impress your guests.

On average you can expect to pay anything up to £550 for a regular-sized model, and the Aldi large egg chair is now a cult classic that sells out almost as soon as it’s released!

You can keep an eye out for the Aldi Hanging Egg Chair, currently priced £299.99.

There's also the B&M Island Paradise Egg Chair, currently £200, reduced from £250.
