LaPointe RTW Fall 2021
Dressier than pre-fall, Sally LaPointe’s latest collection highlighted the brand’s key tenet of luxurious comfort, with an extra dose of relaxed silhouettes to easily transition from day-to-evening or home-to-wherever you’re allowed come fall.
The biggest takeaway was an emphasis on ease and lounge, from wide-cut trousers in silky twill and drawstring culottes in stretchy faux leather to sequined boxer shorts and glam long-sleeved dresses in metallic silk as comfortable as slipdresses. Familiar or shiny, designs were made to complement an at-home lifestyle of those curious to get back out in the world. She left room in dolman-sleeved tops to move around in (which showed a casual side to counter faux leather’s restrictive reputation), and offered a rich autumnal palette of mulberry, pale yellow and cream that acted as luxe neutrals in her typically poppy tonal looks.
As with pre-fall, where she expanded her design library further with feather motifs, here she went heavy on shearling, shaving the typically rough fabric into smooth accent cuffs on a new kimono shape cardigan and down the sleeves of a classic turtleneck. There were signature fur accents, most interestingly seen across the chest of a sweater and neckline of an airy silk cashmere sleeveless knit, and newer plays with animal motifs in the form of textural ostrich-patterned stretch jersey cut into a sexy tube dress, paired with gloves that LaPointe will offer through e-commerce as part of her steady expansion into outfit completers.
