Meghan Markle made a subtle outfit change while visiting women's charities in Canada – for a sweet reason

MEGHAN Markle made a subtle outfit change while visiting women's charities in Canada this week.

Prince Harry's wife, 38, kept things casual in a cream jumper, jeans and brown boots – a starkly different look to her usual royal wardrobe – for the unofficial visits in Vancouver on Tuesday.

She made one small change to her look between the two engagements – for a sweet reason.

Meghan wore a gold pendant necklace when she popped by the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre's office earlier in the day.

But she swapped this for a second necklace – a larger, whale tail design – for her second meeting at Justice for Girls.

The reason for the swap was later revealed on Instagram – as the Duchess was gifted the pendant during the visit.

The 18ct gold and white diamond necklace was designed by Hollie Barlett, a member of the Haisla Nation.

Hollie hand-picked the piece from her collection at Vancouver's Douglas Reynolds Gallery, which specialises in historic and contemporary northwest coast native art.

The gallery took to Instagram to announce the gift, writing: "HRH The Duchess of Sussex @sussexroyal wearing @holliebartlett!"

Meghan immediately switched her necklace and made sure it was clearly visible when she posed for a photo with the group.

The Douglas Reynolds Gallery added: "We are incredibly proud of our artist @holliebearbartlett who came into the #douglasreynoldsgallery to pick one of her favourite pendants to gift to the #DuchessofSussex #MeaghanMarkle.

"Thank you @sussexroyal for looking so beautiful while supporting our #northwestcoast #indigenous artists. Hollie’s piece is an 18k yellow gold #killerwhale pendant with a solitary #diamond.

"We carry a wide variety of B.C.’s #FirstNations art with a large selection of jewelry including the work of Hollie Bartlett. Her Whale Tail Pendants have always been a gallery favourite so we can see why it was chosen for the Duchess."

Meghan is thought to put emphasis on her choice of jewellery. We previously revealed how she was wearing a £450 ‘evil eye’ necklace 'to protect her, Archie and Harry and ward off jealousy' on a royal tour.
